Maua'Lai Fire Water

The beaches of the tropical section Maua'Lai undergo a bloom twice a cycle in which the ocean's native fauna surface to feed on the chemicals that the lava flows bring. These flows are not consistent. As the island of Maua'Lai orbits, its the gravitational pull of another island it passes nearby that opens the veins through which the lava flows. The local fauna does such an efficient job at consuming the minerals that these annual flows do not change the normal shape of the beaches. During these feedings, the thousands of miles of beach on this island light up with the brilliant fire-like glow thanks to the influx of bio-luminescent species in the area.
